Hi everyone,
I'm looking for photos etc of Scania 1-series daycab trucks. I'm planning to chop a Heller 141 down to a daycab, but need information and pictures.
How much do I need to chop out of the kit pieces to make it a daycab?
Thanks Bren

Hi Brendan, Here's a day cab I attempted a while ago..... I removed the section of side panel between the door and the rear corner window, leaving a strip 2mm wide at the corner window. The same ammount was removed from the roof, but I did discover the cab sides taper slightly from front to back, so the roof did need soom filler to get the right profile. I also had to add 1mm filler strips between the windows on the back panel to increase it's width. If you look here: http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/truck_brochures/scania/There are plenty of information about the 1 Series Scania Aaron

Did the "rest equipment" exist on daycabed Scanias in England? In Sweden you could get a bench instead of the passengerseat on 1,2 and 3series Scanias.I don´t have a 1:1 picture, but here is a Steamline interior I made from memory and a passengerbench from HA-models. It has a extra cushion behind the gearstick and if you move the driversseat forward there is a small folding cushion to stick your feet on . The lower part of the backsupport on the bench was removable for more space to your shoulder. Do I need to say that my dad rather drov Volvo F12s with sleeping cab . /Par

My Dad drove 82/92 Scania drawbars in the 80's and early 90's that had daycabs fitted with the "rest equipment" As explained it converted the passenger seat to a bed of sorts. The Scania LB81 he drove before this, all he had was a home made plywood and foam set-up.

Thanks fore the help guys! If you have more pictures of daycabs interiors I´m interested, sleepingcabs seems well covered in most catalogues. I have plans for a rigid daycab 141 in some local companys that drove for ASG ore Bilspedition (nowdays sadly DHL and Schenker).

Thanks for the help everyone! Toxic, I've already been in contact with Alexander Snowie -- I received a promise to measure the cab, but no measurements yet (although it's still early days). I also got the factory drawings from andrew.s on this board, so I think I might be sorted.
Having said that, any additional information is very much appreciated!
Diesel_medic, that's a cracking cab! I hope mine comes out at least half as well as yours did!

Here ya go mate, some pics of a one eleven day cab that I saw in Greece a few summers ago. As you can see the rear front gaurd is quite a bit different on a day cab.A bit of work to do there. There is also a post on here of a very well made 110 day cab that was built earlyier this year. Good luck mate, cheers Jamie

Thank you Jamie! I've been in contact with Andrew.s who built that 110 daycab and he's sent me loads of information. The mudguard is going to be a challenge, but I think I'm up to it.
Heavens knows when it's going to happen though ... got the IVECO mixed bag build on the go and a pile of stalled projects I want to get finished. Oh, and I dragged my almost-finished JCL Scania 1-series Torpedo out of the display case this weekend now that I've had the inspiration to get it finished!
BTW, what is the suspension on the Greek Scania?

Hey mate, Not sure what Scania call that type of suspension,it's a trailing arm set up. I worked on an old 112 once with the same and every pin and bush was flogged out,I think there were nine maybe ten pins and bushes per side. Cheers Jamie

It is full of great pictures. I have seen, that it is availiable from the library in Motala, so I guess you could order it from your local library (I have no idea about how the libraries work together in Sweden). Regards Kristoffer

the front mudguards are much easier than they look,i just cut a piece of plasticard to size and glued some right angle along the outside edge and glued three lenghts of thin rod for the vertical ribs.they look curved at first glance but they are just about flat, its just the outside edge is slightly radiussed(spelling!)this can be achieved with a bit of sanding. bren it should be easy now you have the drawings lol.
