I paid the local railway shop another visit today and they had a collection of model lorries by Base Toys. They may have been mentioned before but I'd not come across these. They're charming little models in 1/76 scale with quite a good level of detail and only cost a few pounds.

I treated myself to these two.

They also have Thames Traders, TK's, LAD cabbed Leylands and the Comet. All in rigid form and with no signwriting, so these would make good repaint bases. The cab and body is held on to the chassis by 3 small screws, accessible by gently pulling the wheels off the axles to remove the axles. The interior is then held into the cab shell by glue and heat-swaged pins. Drill out the pins and break the glue joint with a sharp scalpel or knife blade, and the interior tub pops out.

I've done my usual driver, passenger and tax disc detailing here and added them to the diorama convoy.

They also do a range of artics as well as 6x4 and 8 leggers, and they`ve done done a Leyland Steer.
There`s also Pocketbond(Classix) that do a couple of rigids and various vans.
