well started this last night. idea is to do build it in hoyer colours and build a skelly trailer with lift tank (hopefully)

two main differences between the KFS kit and our trucks are firstly the nearside side windows we have, so carefully cut out the blanked off one on the kit

the next thing is the cab roof spotlights. as ours are standard fleet motors we have the single cab roof light rather than the twin spots on the kit. so from this

ive got to this

idea was to sand down all the detail on the roof, ive then added a small strip of tube angled around the top light housing. ive then started to very gently sand down the piece of strip until im happy with it. i will then finish off with filler around the piece of strip to blend it all in with the roof.

ive decided to get the cab sorted first as im back in work tomorrow and ive got one of the cf's for 5 days, so will give me lots of time for pictures and measurments of the chassis

done more to the cab over the last couple of days,
cab was rubbed down with 1200 and then given another two coats of red before drying in the oven. window rubbers painted in and front grille masked off and painted matt black. fuel tank has been rubbed down to eliminate the seem.

on the other side the compressor has been painted and just needs some mesh to finish it off, ive scratchbuilt two lockers which will sit on top of one another

as for the trailer im undecided weather to build a tank chassis or refurb this road barrel, im leaning towards the barrel at the moment as we use these more often.

im back in work sunday with a cf so will be more pics before i get to work on the chassis

bit more work tonight on the tanker, dismantled it today leaving the body to one side as it just needs a clean up.
the chassis however was a mess so after a liberal coating of mr muscle this morning i then washed off the parts and gave it all a good sanding down thing was covered in big blobs of glue oppps!
then two coats of primer and two of ford radient red.
wheels were cleaned and a coat of audi sliver followed by picking out the hubs in red.

Eh up Pete, just wondering what year the CF represents? The one I've got is an 09 plate and the cab interior is grey, blue and black whilst yours is done in tan and brown?.....
Looking forward to seeing this one finished too!

hiya len,
thats quite odd yours being an 09 plate and with the old xf colour scheme?

at freunds i had one of the last daf xf ssc before the 105 model came out with the updated interior, my daf was an 06 plate.

the two we have on shift at hoyer are both 58 plates, heres some pics of the inside of the one ive got this week.

Cheers Pete, I'll have to check that out!! I know she's a leaser and def. 09 plate and I'm sure the grey dash etc is darker too?... Curiously, most of the fleet are automatics and this one's a manual...
